Copper Cast from Sand

Benefits:

Cost-effective for large production volumes

Possibility to produce large and complex shapes

Good surface finish and dimensional accuracy

Suitable for various copper alloys

Disadvantages:

Lower dimensional accuracy compared to other casting methods

Longer production time due to the mold making process

Limited to alloys with low melting point

May require additional machining after casting

Description of the sand mold casting process for the production of copper parts:

Making the part: A template or replica of the final part is created from wood, metal or plastic.

Making the mold: The template is placed in a box of sand and then removed, leaving a cavity representing the final shape of the part.

Metal preparation: Copper is melted in a furnace at high temperatures until it becomes a liquid.

Pouring: The molten copper is poured into the cavity of the mold, filling the space left by the pattern.

Cooling: The copper solidifies in the mold as it cools.

Extraction: After cooling, the sand mold is broken or shaken out, exposing the solidified copper part.

Finishing: The part may be subjected to additional finishing processes such as grinding, machining or polishing to achieve the desired final shape and surface quality.

This process produces a wide range of copper parts and components used in a variety of industries.
